Pero you can’t help but be bitter about the situation.

Maraming maraming salamat.

*yakap*

I found happiness in a train station one Sunday afternoon.

Sitting on the floor of the MRT-GMA overpass was a construction worker spending lunch break with his wife and little daughter. The woman was pouring water from a Sprite bottle into a plastic cup as the little girl was digging heartily into her father’s lunch. But the man did not seem to mind. He was even chuckling while watching his eager daughter finish off his home-cooked meal.

They were not affluent, but they seemed happy in their simple world.

When I returned to work last Sunday, I found this on my desk:

It’s from Kuya Jim, an INQUIRER photographer.

It’s from a Cheer Bear whom I have yet to meet in person. =)

Kainis, no? =p

Ngarrr…

We start off with a story of love.

Once upon a time, there was a young woman who dreaded the idea of ”celebrating” her 24th birthday. You see, she was suffering from a broken heart, and she knew that supposedly happy occasions like birthdays and Christmas tended to highlight the fact that one was sad.

Seeing that the young woman was in low spirits, her fairy godmother assembled the jolliest fairies and woodland creatures in the kingdom and asked them to bring cheer to her sad ward.

The shiny, happy creatures quickly got to work. First, they picked out the most beautiful flowers and the choicest sweets in the land and sent these to the young woman days before her birthday.

Then they fetched the young woman and took her to a surprise banquet.

After which they joined her for a night of music and merriment.

On her actual birthday, the young woman happily shared supper with her family, including her beloved sister, who had traveled from a faraway land just to be home on her special day.

And just when she thought the celebration was over, three cake-bearing chippers paid her a surprise visit.

The birthday girl went to bed that night with a smile on her face, thankful that what she had expected to be a dreary birthday turned out to be one of the best she had ever had. :)

The End.
