Lunod ako sa readings kaya hirap mag-update. But don’t worry, may S life pa rin ako (social life hahaha).
Now where’s my highlighter?

Every night I go to sleep secure that there is at least one person in this world who will never abandon me and who will love me forever.
Salamat sa pagmamahal, Papa. You know that I love you, too, right? =)

Classmate: Huwag kang mao-offend a?

Like 50 percent of Filipinos his age, Alvin took up nursing =p

Congrats, dear parents! ♥

Grazie, Papa Bear!

I LALALOVE this piktyur.
Kongrachooleyshuns, Brother Bakulaw! Lab kita! (Kadireee…)
It’s like a mirakol!
Nung undergraduate ischoodent pa lang kasi ako, inaabot ako ng tatlong madudugong araw dahil malas ako sa slot-hunting at may scholarships pang inaasikaso. Apparently, graduate students have it easy kasi kaunti ang kaagaw sa slots =)
Sa advising pa lang (students have to consult professors about their classes, load for the semester, etc.), kitang kita na ang pagkakaiba. Sa undergraduate section, mahigit 30 silang nakapila. Sa CSWCD (College of Social Work and Community Development) pa yun a, na may maliit na student population. On the other hand, tatlo lang kaming grad students ng Women and Development ang nagpapa-advise nung oras na yun.
Their student numbers start with 83 and 84, meaning they first enrolled at UP in 1983 and 1984! E 1984 ako pinanganak! Tapos one is a UP professor, while the other, if I heard it correctly, is the head of a well-known environmental organization. Pero okay na rin yun, I could use the challenge to prove my worth in class. =)
I enrolled in two classes, gender and development and feminist theories. Exciting, di ba? Kaso hindi ganun ka-okay ang schedule, Thursday and Saturday. Good thing my boss allowed me to change my work schedule para walang conflict. So I will go to school Thursday, balik-Inquirer pag Friday, then UP ulit pag Saturday. Haggard, pero ginusto ko naman ito =D
As for school expenses, kayang kaya naman kasi P300 pa rin per unit (hindi ko alam kung bakit ganun pa rin ang rate, I expected to pay more than P1,000 per unit).

FORM V!!!
Nakasama ko rin si Rhea, another journ friend who’s also taking up graduate studies at CSWCD.

Sumunod sina Jobert (who came from a court hearing so he looked like a governor hahaha) at Lawrence (who was just passing by =p).

Things are off to a good start! =)
It was deja vu, but not quite.
I was dropping a P20-bill into the church basket this morning when I saw myself as a six-year-old doing the same thing. It was 1990 and I was hearing Mass at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Valenzuela City with my yaya Ate Marissa. When offertory period came, she handed me a P20-bill and told me to put it in the donation basket. I did as told but later asked why she gave such a huge (in my view) amount of money.
She chuckled and said, “Kung ano kasi ang binigay mo sa iba, babalik yun sa iyo nang doble.”
I was confused, doubting that the church could double the money given by churchgoers every Sunday. How was that possible?
Now I know what she meant, of course. Looking back, I am amazed at Ate Marissa’s generosity. P20 WAS a considerable amount at the time, especially for a nanny. And here I am, a white-collar worker, donating the same amount 18 years later!
I should try to emulate dear Ate Marissa, who I hope is getting good karma for her kindness.
Nannies. They are amazingly influential. =)
May we not get so used to expecting disappointment and hardships that we fail to recognize the blessings being sent our way.
